What are the economic reasons for the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire?
There were quite a lot of economic tensions leading to the fall of Ottoman Empire. On the closure of the international routes of trade by the British and the Dutch passing through the Middle Eastern region, the provinces in the region faced a lot of set backs. Ottoman, not being aloof to the problem started facing problems life inflation due to huge supply of precious metals in Europe. Further , increasing Trade imbalance between the west and the East and Increasing spend on military operations aggravated the problems.
To meet the increasing obligations, the empire started imposing higher taxes and loots from its tax reserves called Devisime. On the other hand lower the intrinsic value of its coinage reduced its revenue.The traditional industries got affected by inflation and so could not complete against European high quality goods. Thereby leading to a decline of the empire.
