Companies like Vodafone Group Plc have matrix hierarchy structure with CIO reporting to the CEO and Managing Director.

The C suite level roles are more of leadership roles with leading, mentoring and coaching middle management and delegating key tasks in respective departments and ensuring achievement of KPIs.

CIO looks after Information Technology and Digital Transformation of thr company by onboarding new vendors and signing deals and ensuring highest form of corporate governance and cybersecurity practices.

CIO has cordial relationships with CFO. CmO, COO in collaboration for various projects and deals to be negotiated. CIO reports to CEO and presents key developments and happening in department and tracks success.
