Answer #1

Under the 1964 Civil Rights Act, segregation on basis of race , ethnicity or national origin was banned at all public accommodation places including courthouses, beaches, bars, theatres, sporting arenas and hotels. The blacks and other minorities will no longer be refused care solely depending on their skin colour.

Earlier, the Civil Rights Act was extended to include under its protection disabled Americans, older citizens and women in college sports.

It also opened the way for two major follow-up laws: the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which prohibited literacy tests and other unfair voting procedures, and the 1968 Fair Housing Act, which abolished segregation in home sales, renting and financing. While the battle against injustice would begin, constitutional apartheid in the United States has been brought to its knees.
