Explain how the fundamental attribution error bias affects performance measurement error.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The fundamental attribution error refers to a tendency when we judge action of others as result of few faulty personal characteristic they possess, and fails to recognize the numerous external situational factors that could be causing such sort of behavior. The bias is an overestimation tendency for the importance of dispositional influences relative to situational factors. Because the personal characteristics are overemphasizing and situational factors are ignored in judging behavior of others’ thus causes a performance measurement error. Fundamental attribution results to people error as it's based on their own perceptions thus impacts the performance measurement error.
