1. Davis, Sims, and D’Elia applied for jobs with the city of Philadelphia. During routine medical screening, all three admitted to prior illegal drug use after scars were detected on their arms. Each was qualified for the position that they had applied for and all had demonstrated that they had undergone rehabilitation for their drug addicitons. Nonetheless, the city of Philadelphia refused to hire them. The three applicants sued the city for violation of the ADA. What result and why?

This happened because of the fact that according to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it prohibits employers from discriminating against employees and prospective employees because of their disabilities. In other words when all the three come under ADA coverage and the company refused to hire them because they are drug addicts in the past, they actually have violated the law and that is the reason why the three applicants got the power to sue the city on the whole.
