1 - Retailing is the process of selling the consumers goods after obtaining them from wholesaler and then selling it to consumer . The goods are purchased in large quantity and sold in smaller quantity . The retailing takes place through different channels. Characteristics of retailing are -

1 - The retailers stock and sell comparatively the smaller quantity of goods as compared to manufacturer and wholesaler.

2 - The products are sold at their maximum possible price. This price is greater than wholesaler and manufacturer.

3 - Retailer acts as the link between the manufacturer and ultimate consumer

4 - It also involves the after sales services for the maintainance and satisfaction of consumers.
