Opium trade which was properly developed and popular in the 18th century when Britishers in India trades it with China for getting more import item from there.

But they were not the first one to start this. The foundation was put by the Turkish and Arab leaders in the 6th century.

Then Portuguese and Britishers make it more popular to various parts of the world from North America to China

Britishers uses the power of monopoly in the late 18th century of trading of Opium from East India company to rest of the world.
