In case of promotion, the weightage of performance should be more than the weightage of seniority. This is because –

  • Knowledge, skills & performance should take precedence over time & experience.
  • It would motivate the employed to do quality work & acquire new skills rater than stay in longer duration.
  • It would maintain the efficiency in organisation by recognising performance and talent rather then seniority.
  • It would attract & retain young motivated employees in the organisation.
  • It would help in reducing the inequality based on Seniority & age.
