A computer manufacturer is considering outsourcing its technical support call center to India. Its current technical support call center is located in Delray, Ohio. The current call center is one of the top employers in Dellroy and employs about 10% of the townspeople in Dellroy. The town has experienced high unemployment rates in the past two decades, and often the call employees are the sole breadwinners in their households. If the technical support call center were to be moved to india, the company would be able to pay about 50% less per hour than it currently pays in Dellroy, Ohio. From a triple bottom line perspective (people, profit, planet), what factors are relevant to the company’s decision to outsource its technical support call center? What would be your recommendation?

Answer #1

Profit is the main reason to outsource its call center to India and the other reasons may be they want to have more labor force . So if they employ more labor force they should pay more which is the reason they want to shift its center so that in a country like India they will get more employees for less wages. Thus this the main reason for their decision. My recommendation is that they better not shift the call center but try to expand its business by starting a new center where they can take up more clients because already people of that country are facing huge unemployment and they are also only bread winners of their families. If they loose jobs they face worse situations so they should stop thinking about shifting but they should think about expanding business.
