If the vertical axis drums which cost $20 per unit and the horizontal axis measures sticks which cost $10 a unit, the slope of the budget line is ______.

(clear explanation please)

A) -10

B) -3

C) -0.5

D) -2

Homework Answers

Answer #1

So here we have drums measured in the vertical axis with cost $20 per unit and along the horinzontal axis we measure sticks which costs $10 a unit .

Considering the point along the vertical axis as E = (0,20) and along the horinzontal axis as F=(10,0)

Slope=change along the vertical axis / change along the horinzontal axis ,

= (0-20)/(10-0), = -20/10 (as we know that the slope of the budget line is always negetive because of limited resource available to the consumer and they must give up some of one good to obtain more of the others).

        = -2 or D (Answer).

Draw a graph with food on the horizontal axis and shelter on the vertical axis. A. Now sketch in a budget line such that the relative price of food to shelter is 2, the absolute price of shelter is 10, and the nominal income level is $100. Label the budget line A. B. Next, the nominal income stays the same, the absolute price of shelter is cut in half, and the absolute price of food is unchanged. Sketch in the...

The point on an indifference curve represent consumption bundles among which the consumer is ________ or all consumption bundles are _________. Recall the law of demand. How can this be shown using indifference curves? (Hint: what conditions do we need to hold constant? What changes?) With commodity X on the horizontal axis and commodity Y on the vertical axis, a change in the slope of the budget line from -7/2 to -3/2, according to indifference curve analysis, will cause the...
