The pharmaceutical industry is said to create products to meet the needs of populations in high-income countries. Do you agree with that statement? Please give reasons for your answer.

I agree with the above statement that "The pharmaceutical industry is said to create products to meet the needs of populations in high-income countries" because usually people in high income countries have higher disposable personal income and are ready to pay as much as needed to their health and well being. This isn't the case in low income nations as here, people do not even have enough to have square meals therefore their medical expenditure becomes substantially less. Also, pharmaceutical industry is also a profit making industry, they do not sell medicines of various diseases for lesser costs in low income area rather they choose to sell these for higher prices in higher income area. Therefore, they focus on the needs of people of high income area so that they can get as much profit as possible from there.
