Should prison officials be allowed to place inmates in solitary confinement? If yes, what criteria should be used in making that decision? If no, why not?

Soln. Getting all inmates in solitary confinement is not justifiable as per my view. The nature of placing inmates in solitary confinement should depend on the degree of crime of the inmates. There are group of inmates that due to mental and physical condition may not survive solitary confinement and can lead to their bad health. This is not moral even for inmates. Yes, off course there are certain group of inmates that are mentally not fit and can cause harm to others, if left open, for them it is definitely required to put in solitary confinement. Solitary confinement means here making them direct reachable to others but they should not be deprived of basic requirement such as food.
