For them definition of pure patriotism was pure nationalism which meant white nationalism which meant that white americans were of the superior race and they protested against other races.

3.at that time in 1920s,labor slave were freed and the the klan thought it to be the loss.the klan feared this loss,they feared that other races will over-weigh them and they did not wanted this to happen.
