What do you think about this statement by Senator Bernie Sanders?
" We are the only major country on earth that doesn’t guarantee health care to all people as a right and yet we end up spending much more than they do, so I do believe that we have to move toward a Medicare for all, single-payer system. "
Keep in mind that "single-payer" is similar to the system in Canada. Universal Health care Coverage comes in lots of different forms (Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan all have Universal Coverage, but not a single-payer system), and "single-payer" doesn't mean free health care. After some very quick research (don't spend more than a few minutes on this), Do you agree or disagree that the United States should adopt a policy (and implement it) of a "single-payer" health care system?
Why or why not? Please discuss with your own word. Thank you
Answer : USA should not adopt policy of single payer because despite of merits , it have some negative impacts, it will lead to imperfect information of market as single payer will be act as monopolist in the market as there will be tax hikes. It will result in long time waiting due to single payer. It will also lead to elimination of competition which will limit choices for people and restricted to only limited choice.
Hence concluded that due to above reasons USA shouod not adopt single payer policy.
