Answer #1

Harry Braverman disagreed with scientific management which is also known as "Taylorism" because he believed that it leads to deskilling of the workforce. Scientific management refers to use of technology for replacing work done by individuals. Example :- use of ATM instead of clerks, automatic coffee machines instead of baristas etc. Due to that employees get less challenging work, it leads to their deskilling as they are no longer using intellect like before for performing their tasks.

For employers Scientific management is beneficial because deskilled human capital is easier to hire at lower wage rates. Their replacement is also easy. So the cost significantly reduces.

But from the perspective of employees it leads to dissatisfaction due to the minial nature of their jobs. Also they lose the capacity to seek higher wages as it is easy to replace them.
