Answer #1

Conspicuous consumption means to spend consciously to showcase ones wealth or social status in the society. Example of conspicuous consumer goods are designer wear, luxury cars, exclusive houses..etc.. A labourer is beneficial when conspicuous consumption takes place in the market as exclusive items on which extra labour is put are also in demand. Like a special brand of designer wear which is an exclusive creation of a labourer or an art work which is unique. Here the benefit for the labourer is his creative work, the extra charge for his Labour work and an increase demand for the product from the creamy class of the society which uplifts the labourers as labour forced working is dependent more than machineries for exclusive products. Skill labourers are always in demand and they are retained to keep the industry moving.

Use the results from the problem above. The market for product Q has many identical firms, each having the short-run total cost function: STC(q) = 400 + 5q + q2, where q is the firm’s annual output.
