Labour unions, the most famous form of unions, is an association of workers organized into a single entity to represent the interests of its members.

These types of unions exist for the purpose of improving the economic status and work conditions of the workers.

Labour unions can be of two major categories - Horizontal unions and vertical unions.

Horizontal unions are the ones in which all members share a common skill ( called trade unions), whereas vertical unions are composed of workers across the same industry (called industrial unions).
