Answer #1

Gentrification is the upgradation of social standards of a place/ locality by the influx of affluent people through process of repairing, rebuilding along with displacement of earlier residents characteristic of poor income groups.
Displacement is an essential feature to achieve gentrification. The actual transformation of an area occurs when the low income groups move out of the neighborhood, that allows movement of modern forms of commerce along with a shift in the cultural image of the locality. The process of change has its initial steps with displacement through the process of residential succession followed by cultural displacement due to new and modern practices.
