“Australia currently has over 2000 wine exporters sending tens of thousands of different wines to 116 destinations worldwide. While Wine Australia, an Australian Government authority, has been working tirelessly over the years to promote the sale and consumption of Australian wine internationally and domestically, they haven’t had a permanent presence across the Asian region to help the wine sector capture export opportunities. This is unfortunate as the last four years have seen strong demand for Australian red wines in North East Asia, particularly China” (Wine Australia, 2020).

Australian Grape and Wine Incorporated (Australian Grape & Wine), an Australia’s national association representing more than 2,500 winemakers and 5,000 winegrape growers working in Australia, have therefore decided to step in to fill that void. Specifically, they would like to set up an operation in the Asian region.

As the head of IHRM for Australian Grape & Wine, your current priorities are to get the Asian operation up and running.

Two approaches to appraising the performance of staff in the Asian office have been recommended to you: using HR manager in Australian headquarters and 360⁰ feedback. Which one would you choose and why?

If only one option has to be choosen then it would be to take 360 feedback because in the above analysis it can be seen that Wine Australia have been trying to captured market in Asian region but failed.It might be due to lacked of ground level reality which the company failed to understand.In marketing, understanding the need of the market is very important.From feedback it can be found out the inablelity to capture export opportunities also,by which problem can be solved.
