Assignment: World Health Organization lowers sugar intake recommendations
On 4th of March 2015, According to a new guideline of WHO adults and children should Reduce their daily intake of free sugar to less than 10% of total energy intake.
Basically here free sugar refers to monosaccharides and dissacharides which are added by food and drink manufacturers.
WHO claimed that keeping intake of free sugar to less than 10% of total energy intake reduces chances of overweight, obesity and tooth decay.
According to WHO's analysis there were more cases of tooth decay and overweight where the intake of free sugar was more than 10% .
Further a conditional recommendation was made to reduce the intake to below 5%.
