1. An income tax is a tax that the government imposes on income generated by businesses and individuals to raise governmental funds. By law, taxpayers must file an income tax return annually to determine their tax obligations. Income taxes are a source of revenue for governments. They are used for the funding of public services, to pay government obligations, and to provide goods for citizens. The U.S., like most countries, employs a progressive income tax system in which higher-income earners pay a higher tax rate compared to their lower-income counterparts. This specific fiscal policy impacts me because my parents pay an income tax every year to the government. Our personal income tax that the government collects helps pay for programs and services that we use such as Social Security, national security, schools, and roads.

As a citizen of nation it's not just your parent's responsibility but also our and every taxpayers responsibility to pay taxes and the same government would collect if any, because:

Taxes are the first and foremost sources of government revenue.

Tax is compulsory payment have to make to the government. People on whom a tax is imposed must pay the tax. Refusal to pay the tax is a punishable offence. So your parent must have to pay tax regularly.

The tax payer cannot claim any specific benefits in return for the payment of tax. So tax payment involves some sacrifice on the part of tax payer.

The revenue generated by government from taxes are used to provide common benefits to all of us.

So the tax is the major source of revenue to the government, and which is ultimately used as public expenditure just to facilitate us and nation.
