Homework Answers

Answer #1

(a) Infant Mortality Rate = (Number of Infant Deaths/Number of LiveBirths)*1000 = (200/9000)*1000 = 22.22 deaths per 1000 children

(b) Crude Birth Rate = (Number of LiveBirths/Total population)*1000 = (9000/300,000)*1000 = 30 births for every 1000 people

(c) Crude death rate = (Total number of Deaths/Total population)*1000 = (1400/300,000)*1000 = 4.67 deaths for every 1000 people

(d) Rate of Natural Increase = [(Birth rate - death rate)/1000]*100 = (30 - 4.67)/10= 25.33/10 = 2.53%
