Instead of demanding Chickens people are going vegetarian and demanding more green vegetables it is a change in demand. Maybe because of a report by the government that Bird flu is rising. A change in demand will shift the demand curve i.e. people are demanding less at a given price (if they demanded 100 units before at $10 they are demanding only 30 at the same price now. )

Instead of demanding 100 units of Chicken at a price of $10 people are demanding only 50 unit but the price is increased to $20. This is a change in quantity demand. This doesn't cause any shift in the demand curve but along with it.
