1. An infectious disease broke out in a village where men and women were given different medications. All infected persons had to go to the clinic to get injections once a day. Men were prescribed medication “A” which costs $400. Women were prescribed medication “B” which costs $150. The cost to administer the medication is $100 per visit. Men had to visit a total of 10 times for the medication and women only had to go for ad a total of 5 visits. What is the incremental cost for (Men) medication “A”?

2. At the end of the treatment the men had a higher survival rate than the women. Overall the men had quality-adjusted live expectancy of 13 QALYs and women had 10 QALYs. Based on your response from question #1 was is the incremental cost effectiveness for men?

3. If the Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio for polio in Malawi is $550. How many QALYs will $1,000 worth of polio vaccine purchase in the village?

4. Why is cost effectiveness analysis important?
