Explain how National defence as non-rival

Explain how National defence as non-rival

Homework Answers

Answer #1

National defense is an example of a public good, because it is  non rival and non excludable.

The market does not provide national defence because it is impossible to prevent any single person from enjoying the benefit of national defense. One person's protection does not prevent another person from receiving protection.. Non-rivalry means that consumption of a good by one person does not reduce the amount available for others. In contrast, Gloves are rivalrous. Only one person can wear a pair of Gloves at a time so it is rival and therefore national defense is non rival.
