Is the field of criminal justice and corrections primarily reactive or proactive? Explain your response.

Criminal justice and corrections is a primarily reactive field. This is because criminal justice and correction are initiated only after a crime has been committed and not before that. Therefore, criminal justice and correction is in response to crimes and not in anticipation of crime. It would be proactive if justice and correction could be initiated before the occurrence of the crime. However, this is not the case as criminal justice and correction are initiated only after the act of crime. So, this is a reactive field.
