There is a movement along the demand curve when there is a change in the quantity demanded because of a change in price. For example, if the quantity demanded of chicken increases because of a fall in the price of chicken, there will be a movement upwards the demand curve. This is an example oa f movement along the demand curve.

Shift of the demand curve happens when the demand changes due to changes in factors other than price. For example, if due to life style changes peole started liking read meat over chicken, the demand curve for chicken would shift towards the left.
