Education is typically viewed as and provided as a public good. Is this the appropriate way for this service to be provided, or should it be provided in the private sector similar to the way pizza, automobiles, and entertainment are provided? Please explain what characteristics are present for a public good and perhaps identify some of the reasons why education may possess or produce positive externalities.
The most important characterstic of a public good is that it cannot be excluded from any one as it should be available for all others also. Public should be available everywhere to every person for its use.
Education is one essential componet in any one life as it the most important fortune which can make a person to reach some high positions in his life. So basic education is required to any person . So government recognised it as public good. If it is privatised it will became a business of profit and the soul purpose of serving the people by educating them would be lost. Thus education should always be under sate control rather than private people. Privatisation should be down to improve standards and have effective output but is should be under a particular point where education should not become commercial.
