Directions: Below is a prompt from the Ch. 8 “Critical Thinking” tab in your book. This is #11. (I have copied and pasted for your convenience.) Your task is to answer the question in the prompt and the additional questions that I have added. Respond to 2 other students replies. You must address the student by name and give a thoughtful and thorough response. Understand you will be writing of your own experience and keep in mind that other students are also writing of their experiences. Experiences are each’s own. Keep that in mind. This is not a discussion to debate, but more to try and see from various perspectives and see how you, yourself would react given your own experiences and hearing the experiences of others.

  1. Many consumers rely on product reviews posted online, presumably by ordinary citizens describing their authentic experiences. Unfortunately, though, Amazon and Yelp, the most prominent of the many Internet review sites, have been called out for fake and paid-for reviews. Amazon has threatened to sue people posting fake public reviews. Why is it important that online reviews or testimonials be trustworthy?

Additional Questions: Write about a time you have posted a positive and negative review (if you’ve never posted a review, think about a time you wish you had and what you would have said in a review.) Was there any backstory or underlying situation that contributed to your review?

Answer #1

Online reviews ans testimonials should be trustworthy because when consumer buy goods and services online, they rely on the comments given by other users and theri experiences with the product. It is very important for a company to provide actual and real information to the consumers. Providing actual reviews builds the trust of the consumer and helps the company to create a goodwill in the market.

Yes, I posted a positive review when I received by order from Amazon. The quality, packaging, delivery and features of the product contributed to the review.
