One thing that I got to learn from the Big Oyster is the greatness of the culture of the New York City in accordance with the culture, cuisine, sociality etc. One common aspect between both the books include the fact that the New York culture has evolved a lot from the past times where the other invasions led to the destruction of traditional culture where the author quoted oyster as well as cod to explain his view in a sarcastic way and he finally demands that the culture must be preserved on the whole.
