Until taking this course, I truly never thought about budgets, besides my own. From this course, I learned how complex budgets truly are. I think it is important for residents to get involved in public budgets, when allowed and when residents truly understand the tradeoffs. Public residents may be able to get engaged by possible online polls, telephone surveys, town hall meetings, or community events. I believe it would be easier for residents voice to be heard and considered for local government budgets rather than the federal government budget. It seems almost impossible for individual voices to be heard by the federal government because of how many people there are. I do not think that this should be the way it is, but unfortunately it is. Everyone should have a say regarding budgets because they somehow or another affect all of us. Many people believe that the federal budget does not reflect their values, that the budgeting process is too difficult to understand, or that they cannot make a difference. The people do have a choice in voting for specific elected officials and holding them accountable for representing our priorities. As residents, we should try our best to understand what is going on.

Yes I do agree . Government budget is an annual financial statement which encompasses all revenue and expenditure of the government in the coming financial year . Governmenr expenditure mainly occurs for the welfare of society , for infrastuctural growth , for public sector units , for subsidies , transfer payments , repaying debts etc . So in every aspect we can see that expenditure of gvernment affects the lives of citizens . Also collection of revenue from taxes affects the income and lifestyle of citizens . So the voice or opinion of the public should be considered . If it is not possible to consider every opinion due to massive population then atleast representatives of the people should be called for their opinions . Also awareness of people regarding budget technicalities , trade offs must be spread so that a sound budget can be formed .
