1) The Cold War had both positive and negative results for the promotion and protection of human rights.Rhetorical arguments about the priorities given to certain values helped to sustain attention to the human rights idea, even as actual behaviour could prove devastating for human rights protections.

2) Soft power is persuasive power deriving from attraction and emulation and grounded on intangible resources such as culture. Whereas, Hard power is coercive power executed through military threats and economic inducements and based on tangible resources such as the army or economic strength.

3) The United States has not ratified any international human rights treaties since December 2002, when it ratified two optional protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
