Driving along America's interstates , you'll notice that few rest areas have commercial businesses . Vending machines are the only reliable source of food or drink. According to the lobbying group called the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO ), "rest area commercialization results in an unfair competitive environment " for neighboring gas stations and restaurants . Regardless of whether you agree with this position , why do you think NATSO succeeds in its lobbying efforts ?

NATSO is a Washington based trade organization in which there are 1500 members belongs to the travel plaza and truckstop industry. In this particular statement, NATSO is supporting the ban of commercialization of rest area with an argument of the unfair competitive environment for neighboring gas stations and restaurants. Now if we will observe NATSO itself having lobby with united federal states and local government for their business. As truck stop is one of the parts of their business so if there is the commercialization of the rest area then it will be more improved and maintained one so that will indirectly hamper their business. this might be one of the reason to get succed in their lobbying so it is obvious for them to go against the commercialization of the rest area.
