Separation of power is important because

it provides an main system of 'checks the power and balances the power':
1st step,

it confirm that different branches management to each other. This is to make them responsible for each other -called as check

2nd step,

the division of power is divided into various branches of government - it is 'Balance'.

There is no guarantee that any person or group of people in the government is 'all powerful'. Power is shared and not centered on a branch.

That's why we always see 'the separation of powers and balancing of Power'. The main purpose of the abusing power is to misuse the force.
