• there are few large sellers and large number of buyers in the market
• the price is decided only by these few sellers
• there are very high barriers to entry and exit in the market
• they from Cartels to have price and market control

so yes it is definitely true that Amazon is an example of oligopoly because it is having one of the largest share with other competitors like WalMart

these two or three companies control most of the super Chain market in the United States

so they will come come under the oligopoly
