Define tourism exports and imports in terms of national economies.
We know that imports are foreign goods and services that are bought by the residents , government , businesses of a country . On the other hand exports are goods and services that are produced domestically but bought by foreigners . Imports and exports show up in the national income accounts as net exports , which is equal to exports minus imports . When goods and services cross our borders and funds are received from foreigners , it is exports .
When foreigners visit our country for tourism , it is an export . Since funds are coming into our country . On the other hand when we visit foreign countries , it is an import since we spend funds there . The money spent by foreigners minus money spent by us in foreign countries show up as net exports in national income accounting .
As for example Indian tourist visiting America will be export for America , import for India .
