American firms do a tremendous amount of business with non-English-speaking countries. Should Americans learn the language of foreign nations, or should everyone speak English? Choose a side and defend it. What factors can be used to defend your position
No, Americans don't need to learn any language the other should learn English.
For example, Americans are trading with 10 different non-English speaking countries and all the nations have one particular language then they have to learn 10 different languages and those languages will be useful in one country only(one language in one country). The opportunity cost of learning these languages are very high.
Now, if the foreign country learns English they will be able to use English not only in the US but Canada, UK, India, Australia and other English speaking countries which have English as their first or second language. TH opportunity cost of learning English for these non-speaking country is low. IF these countries learned English they will benefit from it worldwide, but if Americans learned non-English they will benefit only in a small region.
