It is true that there percent growth rate in a quarter is not surprising. It is growth rate of a typical quarter. What matters here is that it is growth rate of sustained period overtime. Only that growth rate can be indication of progress. Like China grew almost in double digits between 2001-2011.so it achieved progress. Had the growth rate been only for a quarter if will have not make any significant impact on material progress of China. Even then it can be said that growth rate of a quarter with respect to growth rate achieved during same quarter in previous year or years serves useful purpose and is used to evaluate growth trends. It does highlight where we are going - in wrong direction or right direction. Appropriate policies can be designed and implemented according so that we are saved from long term crisis.
