: Why would introducing “protective tariffs to protect domestic labor” cause a “quieting down of socialist efforts”? What are tariffs? How do they affect domestic labor? How does this undermine the socialists (i.e. quiet down socialist efforts)?

Answer #1

Introduction of tarriffs leads to protecting domestic jobs and thus keeps socialists quiet who retaliate against unemployment and displacement of workers due to foreign imports.

Tarriffs are special taxes levied on certain goods and services been imported which helps in creating domestic job opportunities as such goids get manufactured within the country and undermines socialists who would raise voice against foreign goods.
