No there isn't any sufficient regulation and safeguards in place to ensure a level and fair playing field for all businesses where certain companies are taking the full advantage of near monopolies to become actual monopolies through numerous ways including disclosure of secrets as in case of Google where it was fined by EU by a huge some of £2.4 billion.
