How is the stakeholder, according to Christopher D Stone, different from the stockholder or shareholder?
Answer:
According to Christopher D Stone, Shareholders are always
stakeholders in a corporation but stakeholders may not be a
shareholder. A shareholder owns part of the company through shares
while stakeholders may have vested interest in the performance of
the company for various reasons like increase in salary, promotion
or bonus other than stock performance and appreciations.
According to Christopher D Stone, a shareholder would have some
expectation of how the share will perform at the time of purchase
that may not be implicit contract the share will behave on that
manner, but companies objective is always to maximize profit
irrespective of its price and every stakeholders job is to achieve
this goal itself.
