can you explain this statement "if a union contract was conveyed to cover non union labor it would create controversy and disengagement among the workforce thus causing issues with productivity"
If an agreement in reached upon to a conclusion between the Union and the management and then the non-union labours are given the benefits of the agreement or they are covered in the agreement, it may possibly create a controversy as to why they have been covered in the agreement. Not being part of the Union means they don’t deserve to be a part of the bargain done by the Union. This can be a cause of disengagement among those workers who are part of the Union as they would call it (covering of non-Union labours) as a free lunch for the non-Union labours or it may be argued that they have been given benefits for which they haven’t fought. As the working of the labours ultimately gives rise to the productivity, the above said controversy can lead to disturbances in productivity by way of disengagement.
