The context that created and supported the Jeffersonian world view disappeared by the mid-nineteenth century, prompted by a shift toward an economy based on commerce, manufacturing, and a larger scale agricultural endeavors. What is the best explanation for this? What impact did this change have on the ethics and civics of what it meant to be an American?

The Change in economy took place because of the rising population. The agro based economy was no more able to provide job to all neither was it sufficient for fulfillment of needs, In order to make daily work easier and to get more employment people move towards industrialisation which gave birth to commerce and manufacturing. As the population rose even more small scare agricultural production was no more enough for the fulfillment of population need therefore people move towards large scale agriculture endeavors. There were many ethical changes people started to move towards more and more capitalisation and the whole economy moved away from the idea of secular state.
