By cutting the number of middlemen, the price of goods has decreased and people can purchase at the luxury of sitting at their homes and often might end up ordering even unnecessary goods. It has put more pressure on retail stores to match up. This who think of it as a series of waves says that there have been 3 waves. First, was the dawn of online shopping from 1995-2003. Wave 2 was the rise of inline communities like Myspace and Facebook. Wave 3 is the rise of mobile platforms.
