9a1) More and more stores at the mall are open on Thanksgiving day. Do you think they have a dominant strategy to be open on Thanksgiving? Why are they open on Thanksgiving? Why don't they just wait until Friday? Is it a Nash Equilibrium for all of the stores to be open on Thanksgiving?

2) Is it best for society to have the stores open on Thanksgiving? Explain your opinion...this one could go either way. Do you shop on Thanksgiving (or early on Black Friday)?

Answer #1

Yes it is dominant strategy because whether or not others open stores these stores will always do better by remaining open. They remain open to earn more. It is because they believe that they can earn more that they do not wait till Friday. ALSO uncertainty about behaviour of other stores add more pressure. No it is not Nash equilibrium because they sacrifice leisure to earn more where as same demand will meet supply in future on friday

2 No it is not better since some leisure time in busy life of the modern cities is much needed
