"It is unfair to compare the experience of now developing countries under colonialism to what might have happened without foreign domination". To what extent do you agree or disagree with this assertion.
Yes, it is quite unfair to compare what a situation is right
now, with what could have been in context of colonization.
There are definite negative aspects for the home country which was
a colony mainly because the foreign dominant colonists would have
used up resources for exclusive commercial gains, disregarding the
home country's freedom.
But that being said, there are certain positive aspects like
improvements in education, international trade, domestic waterways,
rail roads, etc. Besides, it is widely argued that colonization has
led to all colonies adapting to modernization and colonial
development. So, there are negative aspects for the home country as
well as positive aspects, which makes it quite ambiguos to decide
what would have been fair if there was no colonization.
Hence, it is unfair to compare.
