Q: make a detailed responce to the paragragh :
Given Marx, Weber, and Durkheim, I find Max Weber to give the most useful explanation for making sense of our post-industrial society. Weber thought that society is shaped by ideals and thoughts of the people within that society. He outlined two main worldviews of societies: tradition and rationality. Cultures which base their daily lives on success of the past and values of their ancestors- traditional- act on the reasoning of their predecessors. Cultures which favor innovation, change, and growth-rationality- act upon their own personal experience and learning. I think that this best makes sense of our own post-industrial society in relation to others because it gives a logical explanation as to why in many ways our country continues to technologically advance but parts of the world remain living the way they have for centuries. Many of the people which first came to America were seen as outside-the-box thinkers- largely by religious differences or scientific reasoning- and were persecuted in their homeland, which is why they sailed here. Their beliefs of evolution and advancements of humanity have lasted through the generations and, in my opinion, is the reason we are an industrially successful country. Countries or cultures which highly value tradition seem to be the countries that remain agrarian e.g. half a century ago China.
The traditional based countries or societies have lagged behind by dwelling on the ideas and thoughts of their ancestors. In other words, setting their own ideas and thoughts aside or unexplored have left them stagnant regarding the development. Those countries which believe in tradition are less developed and devoid of innovation and thus has put brakes on the evolution and advancement of their lifestyle as well as technology. On the other hand, societies which believe rationally are innovative while they like changes as they learn by living their own life. The liberal thinking and scientific reasoning which is based on the evolution of beliefs has led to the vast development of these countries like America or they are the forerunners of the modern world having advancement in every department of day to day life and this is the only cause of them being industrially successful countries.
