  1. Assume you have recently been hired by the BLS to track and chart unemployment. Your first task is to create a chart categorizing individuals based on the BLS unemployment classifications. Your chart should note:
    1. Whether the individual is included or not included in the labor force.
    2. If they are included, state whether that person is counted as employed or unemployed.
    3. If unemployed, which type of unemployment classification.

You may use the following template to assist you. For any non-applicable cells in the chart please use the value of N/A. For example an employed person would have N/A for point iii.

  1. Harry had a job portraying a wizard at Universal Studios theme park to entertain guests. Overtime, less and less guests wanted to watch wizards instead being more entertained by entertainers from a galaxy far, far away. Due to this change, Harry was let go and has such began looking for other work.
  2. Hermione met a beast of a man who turned out to be her prince charming; she immediately retired from her teaching job and spends riding horses on her estate.
  3. A sudden downturn in the real gdp growth rate caused a shutdown of the factory Ron was working at an all employees were terminated. Ron has been looking for work but to this date still has not found a job.
  4. Ginny finished up her degree and has begun applying for positions.
  5. Neville finished up his degree in botany and is now going full-time towards his PhD.
  6. Hagrid has found the perfect job, he is a mall Santa. The malls are desperate for anyone to come so they have Santa there from May until January. Now that it is March however, Hagrid is out of work. He would like to find something while he waits for May to come by, so he applied at Starbucks.
  7. Snape has also retired from teaching opting for something less stressful, he now works 10 hours a week as a mixologist at Narwhal’s.
  8. The development of Lexis Nexis for researching casework caused many law firms to lay off workers. That was the case at Dobby, Black, & Lupin who cut ties with most of their associate researchers including Draco, forcing him to look for another job.
