Answer #1

Answer: 0.48

Consumer price index (CPI) is the index of changing price of consumer goods and services during a span of time. Such change arises because of inflation effect. The calculation is done on a weighted average basis between prices and quantities of goods of a fixed market basket.

The recent CPI is released for Jan 2019. In case of all items, the CPI of Jan 2019 is 251.71; as per December 2018 the CPI was 251.23; therefore, CPI increases in Jan 2019 and the increase is (251.71 – 251.23 =) 0.48.
