The very existence of relationship exists to meet our desire to have a societal presence, status, and interactions. Sometimes these are objectively driven but many times these relationships exist by the socio-culturally established environment. Mother-daughter, father-son, husband-wife are of this kind. Relationships like teacher-students, banker and customers are of the transactional type and need-based. The relational motivation comes from these types are mutually beneficial and driven by a motive of benefits and getting things done by self. Bu in the case of socio-culturally established relationship motivations are driven by mutual commitment and many times are of selfless in nature. Say for example a mother takes care of her son without much expectation in return. She does it selflessly as a noble duty.
